When pain or symptoms of a disease cannot reasonably be managed at home, a transfer to a dedicated Hospice Family Care inpatient setting may be warranted. The immediate availability of this level of care will often alleviate an unwanted, stressful visit to the Emergency Room, or Hospital admission.
The inpatient setting offers the patient intensive, acute care 24 hours a day. The goal of this stay is to manage or alleviate the symptoms, returning the patient to their home as quickly as possible. The average stay is less than 2 weeks. While the patient's primary physician is welcome to follow in this unit, the hospice physician makes daily rounds and is available 24 hours a day as well.
Our units are decorated with warm personal touches and offer a feeling and appearance of home. Loved ones, including children and pets are welcome to visit at any time, and even stay overnight.
